Bearfootin’ in Historic Downtown Hendersonville

After their hibernation the bears are back in historic downtown Hendersonville, NC. This is the ninth year of the public art exhibit in Western North Carolina of Bearfootin’ in Historic Downtown Hendersonville. The bears featured are colorfully decorated and reside along the sidewalks of downtown; this outdoor exhibit will continue through October 22, 2011. On this day the bears will be auctioned off with a percentage of proceeds going to Henderson County Charities. Over the past eight years, Bearfootin’ in Hendersonville has successfully raised over $150,000 for local Henderson County charities.

Historic Hendersonville Street Dancing


For over 90 years downtown historic Hendersonville has carried on a tradition of street celebrations which honors the heritage of music and traditional mountain dance.  Originated in 1918 to honor World War I veterans, this event takes place every Monday, from July 11th through August 15th, between 8:00 p.m. and 10 p.m., in downtown Hendersonville.  This ongoing tradition features live music accompanied with square dancing and clogging.

Get Ready to Spend your Summer Dancing your Friday Nights Away

Music fans should get ready to put on their dancing shoes because Music on Main Street returns to downtown Hendersonville, NC this Friday, June 10th.  Music on Main Street has become a local tradition, bringing Hendersonville and surrounding communities  together for an evening of free entertainment every Friday night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  The opening night for the concert series will showcase Western North Carolina band Tuxedo Junction, which features a music mix of 1940s swing and 50s folk rock music.

If the Friday night's festivites of Music on Main Street doesn't work with your schedule you might consider heading to Biltmore Park Town Square on Saturday for their weekly Concerts in The Park. Art Show Opens February 25th

Brevard College is located near the Fox Run Preserve community.  The Art Department at the college will present a juried student art exhibition beginning on February 25th and ending on April 1st.  The art exhibition will be held at the Spiers Gallery on the campus of Brevard College.  Many different types of artwork will be represented at this show, such as:  paintings, photography and sculpture.
