Enjoy a Tour of Hendersonville's Apple & Dogwood Blossoms

Even though we've been reveling in mild temperatures over the past few weeks, we haven't yet enjoyed the full effect of spring. But all of that is about to change. Beginning mid-April and running into early May, Western North Carolina's Apple and Dogwood blossoms will be at their peak, and Hendersonville has plenty of tips for taking self-guided tours that will lead you to the season's most beautiful buds.

For both the Apple Blossom and the Dogwood Blossom tour, the Hendersonville Visitors Information Center is a great place to start. Situated in the middle of a thriving and artistic downtown, the center is happy to offer maps along with the inside scoop on where to find the best cuisine, hiking spots, historic sites, and more.

If you don't have a lot of time on your hands, then cruising along one of three Apple Blossom tours is your best bet. Ranging from just over 7 miles to 25 miles, the routs lead Hendersonville natives and visitors alike around the region's famously beautiful landscape. And the spring blossoms are just a hint of what is to come in a few months. Beginning in August, Hendersonville will enter into its apple season, drawing hundreds of visitors from around the country to farmers' markets and festivals

Until then, the Dogwood Blossom tour promises plenty of entertainment. Also beginning at the Visitors Information Center, the trail takes about two hours to complete. Despite the longer drive, the route is worth it. The trail wanders not only around the regions scenic dogwoods but also around several historic sites, like the courthouse, the Flat Rock Playhouse, St. John in the Wilderness Church, the Carl Sandburg Home, and Jump Off Rock Park.

In fact, you might even find yourself venturing close to Fox Run Preserve, Hendersonville's premier gated community. With gracious common spaces and long range mountain views, the community is a perfect spot for springtime sight-seeing.
