Those who grew up in Western North Carolina know that the words "Steel Magnolias" is more than just a title of a movie--it's a term of endearment and a reference to a culture familiar to residents in Hendersonville's Blue Ridge Mountains. With humor, strength, hospitality, resilience, and a love for one's home place, the movie and accompanying meaning of the title phrase epitomizes many of the area's best-loved qualities.

While in reality, residents in Hendersonville, NC, may not be gossiping around the beauty parlor, resilience and hospitality have certainly grown with meaning over the past few years, and the regions has exhibited both with tremendous grace. It only seems fitting then that Steel Magnolias is the play that is currently being performed at the Flat Rock Playhouse. The performance has already received rave reviews, and it couldn't be better timed. After a long winter and years of dialogue about the economy, everyone could use a little ray of humor and hope.

Although it won't deliver well-rehearsed one-liners, Fox Run Preserve, a Hendersonville gated community, is proud to be a part of the approaching turnaround for which we have all been waiting.
