Western North Carolina to Celebrate July 4th

Believe it or not, but the 4th of July is right around the corner. The heat of summer, while still mild in the mountains, has set in early, and attractions like waterfalls, swimming holes, and hiking trails are drawing hundreds of visitors from across Western North Carolina. This year, the region is offering several better-than-ever July 4th celebrations to keep residents cool, and Fox Run Preserve is enjoying an ideal location that is close to them all. The hardest part will be deciding which event to attend.

Begin your festivities early on the third at the celebration in Columbus, NC. Even though it's a day early, there will be no shortage of fireworks, crafts, food, music, and fun. Also on July 3rd will be Hendersonville's own summer jewelry market, which will feature eighteen local artists. Flat Rock, too, will join in on the celebrations by hosting Dana and Susan Robinson for a summer concert on Little Rainbow Row's back deck. Another exciting option is the July Powwow in Cherokee where visitors will be treated to traditional dance competitions and ceremonies, making for a fun and educational day.

You may also stick around until Sunday, when the area's largest celebrations are set to occur. Just minutes from Fox Run Preserve, downtown Hendersonville will hosts its Fabulous 4th Celebration by showcasing well-known singer Matt Stillwell, an Independence Parade, fireworks, and more. The fun lasts from 2 p.m. oo dusk. In addition, the neighboring community of Asheville, North Carolina, will host their annual celebration downtown. Visitors are invited to enjoy music by The Sons of the American Revolution, play games, and watch fireworks light up the night sky.
