Experience WNC's Performing Arts
It may be hard to believe, but another school year will soon begin. Stores are stocking up on book bags and fall apparel, and children are either eager with excitement or groaning that their lazy days at camp and time spent on outdoor adventures in the sun will soon be at a close.
The upcoming academic year is a wonderful reason for Asheville and Hendersonville residents to make the most of the next few weeks, and with so many offerings in Western North Carolina, they can rest assured that there is still plenty of fun to be had before busy school schedules occupy their minds.
One of the many highlights of living in the Blue Ridge Mountains is the wealth of performing arts venues and the talented group of actors, dancers, singers, and musicians. Over the next few weeks, several productions are sure to grab the attention of arts fanatics, and all are great ways to celebrate the final days of summer vacation.
The Flat Rock Playhouse is currently showing Mel Brook's Tony Award-winning adaptation of The Producers. Audiences will be laughing throughout the evening as they watch a comical pair of businessmen attempt to create financial success out of an unsuccessful performance. Their plan is soon complicated, however, when the performance surprised them all by becoming wildly popular.
If you are in the mood for something serious, the Montford Park Players are your best bet. They are currently performing Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida, a play full of war and love stories. Or if you prefer something that speaks to the local Asheville area, consider The Rootabaga Stories or The World of Carl Sandburg, both of which are performed at The Carl Sandburg Home.
Whatever you choose, be sure to make the most of the final days of summer. You are welcome to spend a few of those days exploring the Hendersonville real estate at Fox Run Preserve, a Western North Carolina gated community.
