Mark Your Calendar for the Lake Eden Arts Festival
What do trapeze artists, unicyclists, the Indigo Girls, and a juried art fair have in common? It's not a joke--it's the 31st Annual Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF). While the mixture of performers and artists may sound comical at first, LEAF has proven year after year that music and art can empower, cross borders, unite, and facilitate change.
A non-profit organization, LEAF has been working for years on connecting cultures and creating community through music and arts. The biannual event, according to the Washington Post, is "the best multicultural mix and match festival. Mountain music meets world music, blues, zydeco, and more." Featuring performers that range from local bands and internationally-recognized musicians from Haiti and Rwanda to slam poets and step dancers, the weekend-long celebration seems to effortlessly combine unlikely genres in music and mediums in art to create one of the region's most successful and anticipated festivals of the year.
The celebration this fall is scheduled to take place October 14th - 17th and promises to be better than ever. With a picturesque setting that suits the festival's name, attendees will enjoy the beauty of Lake Eden and Camp Rockmont. The fall colors as a backdrop to concerts and art shows make it easy to understand why both are so powerful in crossing cultural borders.
While visitors from across the country will be coming to join in on the fun, residents of surrounding communities like Asheville and Hendersonville enjoy convenient access to the festival. Fox Run Preserve, a Hendersonville gated community, is just a short drive away. In fact, Fox Run Preserve is ideally located close to several hubs for special events, festivals, and activities that occur year round, making it an inviting choice for building a home in Western North Carolina.
