Become a Part of History in Hendersonville
When you choose to live in Fox Run Preserve, you also choose to become part of history. Located in Hendersonville, North Carolina, the private, gated community is encircled by the Blue Ridge mountains, a region that carries a long legacy of respect and admiration for the land.
Henderson County was part of the Cherokee Nation for more than 10,000 years until traties in the late 1700s officially opened the land for settlement by early Appalachain Mountain pioneers. Located just two and a half hours from Fox Run, visitors can still learn about the originial Native American settlers with a visit to Cherokee. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities including taking in a play that chronicle the history of the Cherokee people, wading in the Oconaluftee River, or taking part in one of the many festivals throughout the year.
If you prefer to stay closer to home, Hendersonville itself has a number of historic sites. The Henderson County Heritage Museum is host to an exhibit that covers the history of the area from the time it was a part of the Cherokee Nation to present day. Divided into three time periods, visitors can learn about famous settlers that included Revolutionary War Patriots Andrew Miller and Joseph Hendery as well as several Tories, including William Mills.
